Top 3 Things to Consider Before Booking a Wedding Vendor
Finding a reputable vendor is one of our most asked questions here at Little Lighst on the Lane. Having been in the wedding industry for over 5 years, we have seen it all when it comes to vendors. We host over 60 weddings and events per year, working with hundreds of vendors and couples. We narrowed it down to the top 3 things you should look for in any wedding vendor before signing a contract.
Top 3 Things to Look for in A Wedding Vendor Before Putting Down a Deposit:
How they handle client management and communication
Day of management skills and promises
Quality of services or product
Client Management and Communication
This item you can assess during the inquiry and booking process. Ask yourself these questions:
How their communication skills are when inquiring about their service.
Is their service or products clear and easy to understand?
Are they promptly responsive?
Reviews and recommendations from previous clients will be very helpful in ensuring they can not only perform how they promise but also understand their communication and organized skillset.
A big stressor for many couples is the communication and planning with multiple vendors. It can be very stressful if getting into contact is difficult.
Day-of Management
Organizational and personable skills are key points in forecasting how the day of management skills will be. Do they offer a timeline, are they in communication with other vendors?
Quality of Services or Product
Now here comes the real test, how does the vendor perform? Of course, not all vendors offer a trial service but reviews are huge in understanding if a vendor truly follows through with their promises and level of service as described to you. How experienced are they and do they have reviews?
All our booked couples at Little Lights receive a list of vendors that we hand-selected each year that meet these criteria. However, since we have a select group of vendors we recommended that doesn’t limit others who have done a wonderful job or maybe it is someone that we haven’t met yet.
Here are some questions to ask yourself to identify and asses if a vendor is a good fit for your wedding:
Do they have a legitimate website, email, and phone number?
Did they provide you with reviews or are those available on Google or Facebook?
How is their communication?
When you are ready to book, make sure to review the contract and have a clear understanding of services and expectations. Understand their terms of conditions regarding a rebooking, double booking, weather conditions or act of god terms, and payment overview including their refund policy. Once you have them booked we always recommend saving a copy of each contract and sharing vendor information with your venue so they can prepare on who to expect the day of the wedding.
